This book develops systematically an approach to some basic aspects of mandolin technique.
It is not a “method”, designed to teach someone the instrument from scratch. If the ideas here are incorporated into teaching, though, the results, as I know from lots of experience, are eminently successful.

These GAMES might be used by anyone who thinks about mandolin technique, regardless of the sort of music played.

That the book uses mainly only four notes, and that it uses words where written music or diagrams might certainly have been a lot quicker – which is not the same as better, however.
I use only four notes because the GAMES are intended to illustrate general principles, which apply no matter where on the fingerboard you are. Any four consecutive notes would have been pretty much as good, although there might be special problems where the frets are closer together, as further along the fingerboard.
I have used words instead of music notation because I want the user to think about my descriptions of procedures, which might well be different from what the user is used to.
